The heroine of the film, American Betty Mahmoudi, is married to an Iranian-born American anesthesiologist, Dr. Mahmoudi. They have a four-year-old daughter, Matob. Moody begins to have problems at work, and he decides to go to Iran for two weeks to visit relatives. Before leaving, he swears on the holy Koran that he will never forbid his wife and daughter to go back as soon as they want.
