Former Marine and elite sniper Levi, who has lost the meaning of life, agrees to a top-secret assignment - to spend a year alone in a watchtower on the edge of a huge gorge. On the other side in the same tower sits Lithuanian sniper Drasa. Their common task, formulated at the dawn of the Cold War, is to keep the monstrous "hollow men" out of the fog. Although the envoys of East and West are forbidden to communicate, Levi and Drasa soon establish contact and fall in love with each other.
