Anna de la Vega, an able American student, comes to Oxford for a year to study literature and poetry. On her first day, she is accidentally splashed by Jamie Davenport, who is passing by in a car. Anna soon finds out that he will be teaching one of her courses. Initially they don't get on and exchange barbs, but then spend an evening together in a pub.
