Polly lives alone in a large house. One evening she invites home an elderly woman who seems disoriented and unable to get home. After asking about her personal life, the stranger gives the girl a strange black box and tells her that she will die tonight. Polly shoves the woman out the door, but it soon becomes clear that there is no way to get rid of the mysterious box, and it requires three things to be put in it: what the girl hates, what she needs, and what she loves most.
