Among the deep forests lies the ancient city of Lloris, once long ago created by elves. But people drove them out of the city, and now Lloris is ruled by an oppressive sheriff who profits from its inhabitants. He constantly raises taxes, condemning people to poverty and hunger, depriving them of shelter and income. And those who try to protest are banished and tortured. A rebellion is brewing in the city, and the desperate inhabitants decide to turn to the reclusive elves for help, believing in their magical powers. The elves do not trust humans, with whom they have not interacted for two hundred years, and want to preserve their fragile peace.
