The landlord runs a butcher shop on the first floor and feeds the tenants, who are both customers and raw material for the produce. Trouble is, the butcher's nearsighted and mouse-like daughter keeps falling in love with them. In the past, gastronomy has usually won out over romantic aspirations, but the new suitor has impressed her so much that mincemeat is out. The butcher can't believe what's happening, but something makes him put off "cutting" until the neighbors start complaining about the lack of meat on the daily menu.
