Lyuba is a lonely mistress with a long history, at one time her husband persuaded her to terminate her pregnancy, and then left her for a younger one. She never married again. In the city comes her friend Manechka, who wants to adopt a child, but because of difficulties with the paperwork persuades Lyuba to temporarily formalize guardianship for herself. But Manechka dies in an accident, and Lyuba becomes the sole guardian of a teenage girl Dasha. Dasha turns out to be not the easiest child and significantly spoils her life. Lyuba has to get acquainted with her class teacher Evgeny Olegovich. Sympathy arises between them. As a pity, Dasha falls in love with Eugene. The relationship between Dasha and Lyuba, which is just getting better, is shattered by the man in whom both of them are in love.
