In search of the American dream, Amanda Bradley arrives in a southern town where she finds herself in the hands of Billy, a con man. He gets Amanda a job as a dancer in a nightclub. And so it begins: sex, drugs, prostitution. Sgt. Mike, who sees behind the thick layer of makeup and extravagant appearance of a fragile soul of a young woman, tries to pull her out of the bottom. But this affair is not part of Billy's plans. During a "drunken" showdown Mike is fatally wounded. The fingerprints on the knife belong to Amanda. The court insists on imposing the death penalty. But she is too young to die....
