May 2020, a coronavirus pandemic is on the rise. In quiet provincial Eddington, where a quarantine is declared and a masked regime is imposed, a confrontation is brewing between Sheriff Joe Cross and Mayor Ted Garcia, who plans to be re-elected and conceives a grandiose project - the construction of a large data center based on artificial intelligence. Unwilling to wear a mask, to put up with these plans and having a strong personal dislike for Garcia, Cross decides to challenge him and runs for mayor.
